Cyphastrea is a very easy coral to care for and is typically an encrusting coral, although, there are some more rarer species that will branch out, and, others that will even plate out.
It is a great coral for beginners and requires moderate flow and low lighting conditions. Years ago there were only a couple different color varieties available, but today, you can find cyphastrea in just about any color of the rainbow.
Cyphastrea are mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae, but, they should also be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton, as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy or other amino acids and probiotics.
Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
