Seriatopora corals, widely known as Birdsnest corals, are an easy to keep SPS coral and is usually one of hobbyists first SPS corals. It prefers moderate light and moderate to high water flow and is typically placed in the middle of the aquarium. Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
The growth pattern of this coral typically makes it easy to identify, growing very thin branches that interconnect to form colonies that can have very sharp tips that can stab and cut a hobbyist, so, be extra careful when handling this coral. It is also extremely fragile and is easily broken by accidentally bumping it while cleaning your tank.
It is found in a few different color variations, predominantly being green, pink, and purple. Although Birdsnest corals are mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae, they should also be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy or other amino acids and probiotics.
