Pachyclavularia Violacea, predominantly known as Green Star Polyp, or GSP, is by far one of the most popular and entry level corals in the entire aquarium hobby. It prefers low to moderate lighting and moderate waterflow.
It grows extremely fast so be careful when placing it in your aquarium and give it ample space. Some hobbyists will isolate it either on its own rock or even on the back wall of the aquarium. It is found in various shades of green and typically grows in a matting or encrusting form, although, there is a very rare branching type of species that is spectacular.
GSP is mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae, but can be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton, as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy if you desire.
Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
