Heteroxenia Fuscescens, more commonly known as Xenia, is another one of the most popular and entry level corals in the entire aquarium hobby. It prefers low to moderate lighting and moderate water flow.
It can grow insanely fast and has the ability to bud off and relocate itself, so be careful when considering this coral for your aquarium. Some hobbyists will isolate it on its own rock in attempt to control its growth.
It is found in various shades of pink and purple and has the unique ability to "pulse" creating an absolutely mesmerizing effect, which is why it is so popular even though it can be a very invasive coral.
Xenia is mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae, but can be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton, as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy if you desire.
Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
